Setting Aside that Sin...and Getting Up!

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!" Hebrews 12:1-3 The Message

Pastor Peckham's sermon Wednesday (9/19) was very timely and was exactly what my heart has been saying for a month now. We HAVE to wake up, strengthen ourselves and say no to bowing to those things taking us away from God! My heart and spirit are very grieved watching God's people slowly fade away as meaningless things take them away from God. About a month ago I wrote the following in my personal journal:

We think we're something special because we are Oneness Apostolics, but I'd venture to say the Apostle Peter wouldn't even recognize this Apostolic faith. We are anemic compared to the Apostolic faith of Acts! What if Peter were to have lived for God as we do today? If Peter were as preoccupied with video games, TV or Facebook as we are do you think the gospel would have ever reached the gentiles? Would the lame man have ever been healed if Peter decided he just didn't "feel like" going to the temple that day? Seriously think about it, there are souls who are dying to have what we have in the Lord and we sit day after day wasting the gift God has given us. It breaks my heart...it breaks God's heart.

What's the solution? Just "Get Up in Jesus' Name"!!!
